Madou Incense Offering Ceremonies by Daitian Temple in Madou District
Daitian Temple in Madou District, worshipping the Five Marshals of a Thousand Years (a variation on Wangye), is responsible for conducting Madou Incense Offering Ceremonies in April of each Year of the Ox, the Dragon, the Sheep, and the Dog. Established in 1662 (in the reign of Emperor Yongli in Ming Dynasty), Daitian Temple in Madou District was given the name “Baoning Temple,” and has been a renowned religious tourist attraction nationwide. It is always swarming with loyal followers to worship the deities. Daitian Temple joins hands with the temples within and branch temples outside the earthly domain of the Five Marshals of a Thousand Years to carry out Madou Incense Offering Ceremonies. The size of the ceremonies is so enormous that makes the most famous and biggest-scale temple fairs in Southern Taiwan.
